We love what we do!
Dr. Mark Kestner is a native Tennessean. He and his wife Ginny and their daughter Ellie stay busy with school and church activities when not in the office. They also love exploring the outdoors. They have a grown son, Anthony, who lives in Arizona.
Dr. Kestner is passionate about chiropractic and acupuncture as a result of having been treated for headaches that had failed to respond to typical medical treatment.
“Like many of my patients, my family typically turned to routine medical care for health issues as I grew up. Unfortunately as a teen, I had migraine headaches that were disabling at times. I was otherwise healthy, very active in sports, and very frustrated by the fact that none of the doctors seemed to be able to diagnose my headaches or offer treatment other than drugs. The drugs would make me so drowsy that it was not safe for me to drive. Because we trusted our family doctor and the specialists that told me that I would have to just learn to live with the headaches and that “nothing is really wrong”, I eventually quit trying to find relief.
“In my twenties I ended up going to see a chiropractor about an injury to my back. I have several chiropractors in my family but it had never occurred to me to see a chiropractor about my headaches!
“The chiropractor asked me about my headaches. (I had not even told him about them). I asked how he knew I had headaches. He said that after looking at the x-rays of my spine he would be surprised if I didn’t have headaches.
“He worked with me for several weeks and to my amazement, the headaches stopped. In addition to chiropractic adjustments, this chiropractic doctor had been trained in acupuncture so he provided stimulation to several acupuncture points as well.
“This change in my health was so dramatic that it caused me to re-think my future. As I learned more about chiropractic and acupuncture I realized that I would not be happy unless I pursued the career as a chiropractor. I literally sold everything I had and drove my Volkswagen to St. Louis to begin my graduate education to become a chiropractor.
“That was more than 30 years ago and it was the best decision I have ever made in my life. I love what I do. I think I truly have the best job in the world and seeing patients get better each week energizes me tremendously!”
